There’s something satisfying about rolling out clay; a lump of earth becomes a layer of possibility, yielding to the whim of the hand. It’s pretty neat how the mud beneath our own feet can be art and inspiration waiting to happen.
Featuring a custom line of Illustrated Pottery made by hand building and/or rolling out clay into organic shapes and sculptures; the ancient “Sgraffito” (to scratch) technique is then achieved by applying underglazes and carving out designs/ illustrations.
With respect to indigenous materials and the art of sustainability, studio events include the harvesting and processing of clay from surrounding regions, and holding local clay workshops.
